POEMS & TRIBUTES
And if I go, while you're still here ~
know that I still live on
vibrating to a different measure
behind a thin veil you cannot see through.
You will not see me,
so you must have faith.
I wait the time when we can soar together again,
both aware of each other.
Until then, live your life to the fullest.
And when you need me,
just whisper my name in your heart,
~ I will be there.

Heaven's Door
If I should go before you, if life on earth were through;
I'll stop just inside Heaven's door, and there I'll wait for you.
You've but to look 'cross star filled skies, past the moon and then beyond;
To know my leaving could never break, this heart's undying bond.
And if you should go before me, if your journey on earth were through;
You know I will be close behind, I'll never be far from you.
Across the span of time and space, this love will reach this far;
For you'll always carry a bit of my heart, no matter where you are.
We've no way of knowing who will remain, or who will go on before;
But if I should go first, you'll find love there, I'll be waiting just inside Heaven's door.
If I should go before you, if life on earth were through;
I'll stop just inside Heaven's door, and there I'll wait for you.
You've but to look 'cross star filled skies, past the moon and then beyond;

Across the span of time and space, this love will reach this far;
For you'll always carry a bit of my heart, no matter where you are.
We've no way of knowing who will remain, or who will go on before;
But if I should go first, you'll find love there, I'll be waiting just inside Heaven's door.
POEM BY KATHRYN STEIN - CAT HAIKU
The food in my bowl is old, and - more to the point - contains no tuna
So you want to play. Will I claw at dancing string? Your ankle's closer.
There's no dignity in being sick - which is why I don't tell you where.
Seeking solitude, I am locked in the closet. For once I need you.
Tiny can, dumped in plastic bowl. Presentation, one star; service: none.
Am I in your way? You seem to have it backwards:
This pillow’s taken. Your mouth is moving; up and down, emitting noise.
I’ve lost interest. The dog wags his tail, seeking approval. See mine?
Different message.
My brain: walnut-sized. Yours: largest among primates. Yet, who leaves for work?
Most problems can be Ignored. The more difficult ones can be slept through.
My affection is conditional. Don’t stand up, It’s your lap I love.
Cats can’t steal the breath of children. But if my tail’s pulled again, I’ll learn.
I don’t mind being teased, any more than you mind a skin graft or two.
So you call this thing your “cat carrier.” I call these my “blades of death.”
Toy mice, dancing yarn, meowing sounds. I’m convinced: You’re an idiot.

FOR NELSON --- A TRIBUTE
A year has passed…Can it really be?
Yet time is not measured, not by you, nor by me
Time…an invention, of the physical sphere
It loses its meaning, when I feel you near
The love we share, will live forever
Which nothing, and no one shall ever sever
Its light will shine on the darkest of nights,
Teaching me always…it is a gift,
And to hold on to it tight
And yet…what was once mine alone now I must share
As you light up the heavens with your beauty so rare
So fly, my angel, fly…and sing!
Through the clouds and the rainbows with the wind beneath your wings
But still I have you, And you have me
Forever, forever, forever…
For eternity

DUSTY'S BATH
It's bath time i hear her say
Oh no i'll just sneak away
under my blanket so she can't see
Oh no she's comming for me
The running water is so wet
she's using smelly shapoo i bet
now i'm soaking and not smelly
i hope she gives me a rub on my belly
She's wrapped me up so i can't move
Hey mum you've missed a groove
now i'm dry and if i could
go outside and roll in the mud

A Poem
Soft brown eye's they seem to say
my time has come i must go away
God is calling i can hear my name
he wants me for the first ball game
don't be sad it has to end this way
i'll be by your side both night and day
The bond we have will stay so strong
until it's time for you to come along
So please mummy don't you cry
the day has come, i must die
in your heart i will always be
you'll laugh again just you see

MY OVERCOAT - Linda Lofthouse
My overcoat i cast today
i'm free to run, i'm free to play
i can even chase my tail
that overcoat had got so frail
it was old and worn out, weighed me down
i feel so young and i've lost my frown
My overcoat i've had for years
now listen mum, i want no tears
i can walk again, i,ve got no pain
my worn overcoat let in the rain
don't wish me back to how i was
that overcoat is not a loss.

i can even chase my tail
